STUDENT INVOLVEMENT COUNCIL

The council seeks to be a resource of ideas, support, guidance, and policy to student organizations and their leaders. The council has a responsibility to review and approve new student organizations and promote new opportunities for student involvement at Concordia College. Student Involvement Council is responsible for appropriating funds from the Student Activity Fee to all student organizations via budget requests continually throughout the academic year. It is the committee’s responsibility to review the budgets of major organizations such as, Student Government Association, Campus Ministry Commission, Campus Service Commission, Campus Entertainment Commission, Orientation, Homecoming, and submit recommendations and rationale to the Student Affairs Faculty Committee.

Student Involvement Council also plans and organizes a variety of events, including but not limited to, the Student Organization Leader Training, Cobber Expo, Cobbrrr Expo, Student Organization Leader Banquet, and the Campus Christmas Party.

ELECTIONS & CREDENTIALS COUNCIL

Elections and Credentials Council is an objective body that evaluates necessary credentials and has the power to select students to fill significant leadership positions via a confidential hiring process. The consultation of outgoing chairs and the appropriate administrative staff advisors are utilized during said hiring process. Positions selected by the Elections and Credential Council are the commissioners for  Campus Entertainment Commission, Campus Service Commission, Campus Ministry Commission, as well as the chairs of Orientation, Homecoming, and Family Weekend Committee. The committee is the sole interpreter of the Bylaws and Constitution, and oversees such documents by reviewing changes and providing recommendations to the Student Government Senate. The responsibility of Election Marshall for the subsequent academic year is the responsibility of the ECC Commissioner, unless delegated to another senator.

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

The goal of Academic Affairs is to engage students in their academic experiences during their time at Concordia College.  The committee fulfills its mission by seeking input from students regarding how their academic experiences can be improved during the academic year as well as throughout the summer terms. The committee serves as a liaison between the students, faculty, and administration in order to design and develop innovative solutions that increase opportunities in academics and research for the student body.

PROGRAMS & EVENTS

Programs and Events Committee serves as a planning committee of civic engagement opportunities, educational activities, and community- building events that promote becoming responsibly engaged on campus and in the world. The events planned are in addition to the programming developed by other internal Student Government committees and senators. The content of these events are based on student input via survey, tabling, and post-event reflection of previous years. Programs and Events has a significant role of planning in events such as, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Civic Engagement Week, Study Breaks, LinkedIn Professional Photoshoot, and more.
